Dredby Standard (Sleyf)
Dredby Standard created by Sleyf
Species:
Dredby Standard (or The Dredby Blue). Dredby was the Lord of that estate (of the same name) who set about creating this particular species of Gryff as his heraldic beast. Often called "The Dredby Blue" because of the unusual blue skin tones of the feet.
Permission:
Others can make their own, however I would like to be cited as the original creator of the species, and would also like them to note or link me with their work...just out of curiosity!
Common Features:
Most can be found listed on the species guide. However all of the breed are purely ornamental creatures. Meaning their wings are NOT suitable for flight, they were bred in simply for an aesthetic purpose and are far too heavy in respect to their wing size to attempt flight of any kind.
Feathers on the wings are always "curled".
They are Gryffs, which means they have "toothed beaks".
Most will have that "Lion silhouette", meaning, large bulky chest/mane appearance.
Erect ears. This is uncommon in Gryff species, however this feature was bred in to make them appear alert and attentive. Size and ear type may vary.
Common Colors:
These creatures only come in a variety of greys, sometimes dappled or even retaining some stripes. The wings can either be solid fill colour, or come with plumage barring or speckling. Usually the chest and "mane" will be a lighter shade, and the most common markings on the face are the "Eye bars", or the stripe of darker colour running horizontal along their faces and necks (this is a marking kept in from the original Dredby Glider breed) however it's not always present. Coats range from warm greys, to almost blue shades. Nothing unnatural however. Their scaled feet are almost always a shade of blue-grey.
Common Sex Features:
Both sexes appear similar in appearance. However this is a female led society and there will always be an Alpha female who is more dominant and receive breeding privileges, the majority of the pack will be her offspring (ration of females in a pack is often higher than males who will often roam in "bachelor packs").
